Who am I? I’m a vicious storm brewing in a teacup and I wish to give you some insight into the eye by exposing you to my thoughts. Okay, that sounds a bit extreme. That was my copywriter giving my opening sentence a go when I asked him to help me with it. Never again. Here’s the low-down, I’m a 20-something art director residing in sunny Durban, South Africa. A city that I have a love hate relationship with, being an adventurer at heart I’ve moved around a bit since I finished college. Life has guided me back home, so here I am (for now).
I suffer from the twenty-first century disease: chronic dissatisfaction. A term dubbed by Woody Allen that I’m sure most people my age can relate to. There’s always something better out there, some other life, some other person that we’re chasing. We don’t fully live in the here and now. I’m trying to cure this condition by appreciating and establishing all the little moments that make me tick. I think one of the best compliments that anyone has given me came from one of my Norwegian friends whilst we were exploring the streets of Dublin. I had stopped to take a picture of arbitrary street pole painiting that she would have ordinarily not noticed, she turned around and said, “I wish I could see the world the way you do”. I doubt she realized how much that meant to me at the time but it has stuck with me ever since. We all don’t see the world in the same way and that’s what makes us unique. That’s what makes blogging unique not just your content but the way you interpret life. And that’s what I want to do with my blog share my take on the world and in turn making me more conscious of the value in it.
One of my main objectives for starting this blog is because I don’t write anymore, I have someone to do it for me (my copywriter, mentioned above). I think in pictures, my brain consists of multiple Pinterest boards. I would like to improve the way I write. You know what they say, the more you do it, the more you see it, the further immersed in it you are, the better you get, as with most things. With that being said I’m going to start typing until the letters on my keyboard fall off and I have a reason to buy a new Macbook Air. Just kidding. Another reason for starting this blog is for when I’m old and have a mild case of alzheimer’s I’ll be able to remember what my life was like in my 20’s. Ha. Without sounding too basic I will be posting about the three F’s (fashion, food, funvertising) and whatever else I find interesting and shareable.
Why is this blog called Tea & Elle? My initials are TL, see what I did there? Also fashionbookdiariesblog was already taken. Dammit. Anyway I hope you stick around to follow journey.
